"Hi..."

"Hey you! What's up? I'm just sitting here getting ready for our date tonight."

"Yeah, about our date. I'm sorry, I won't be able to make it tonight. Some important work came up today, I have to take care of it."

A look of disappointment spread across her face. "Ok...."

"I'll make it up to you, dear. The most expensive restaurant in town, tickets to the opera, a tattoo.. Anything you want!"

She lightly laughed. "That's ok. I know how work can be."

"Thanx, honey. I have to run, will call you tomorrow, or show up at the bar if I can't call you before you head to work."

Beth hung up the phone and sat quietly, looking at it....
