CHAPTER 2

THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME

01-04-2000

..."Mult-millionaire Louis Faulkner was found dead today. Faulkner, owner of a world-wide chain of leather fashion clothing stores and infamous for his big game hunting expeditions in Africa, Asia, and other locations around the globe, had been missing for two weeks at the time he was found. Authorities initially believed he was kidnapped by members of PETA or another animal activist group, or even by someone out for ransom money, but now believe otherwise."

Authorities now believe, judging by the way he was murdered, that it was the serial killer stalking our city that was responsible. 'I', as he calls himself, is wanted in connection in 10 grisly murders, and is suspected in no less than 15 more."

"Apparently Mr. Faulker was, ironically enough, hunted through the national park in the southern part of our county, and was shot with 6 tranquilizer darts, each a stronger dosage than the previous. The fact that each dart was numbered, and that he was tied to the hood of his car is the reason 'I' is the suspect."

"At this time, the manhunt for 'I' still continues, and authorities are no closer to finding him or his identity."

"Good news for area farmers... Much neded rain is on the way! Weather and sports next, after these commercial announcements."

How ironic... Lou died the way he lived, hunting. Only, poor Lou was the prey instead of the predator. I could of easily have shot him on the street at night, coming home from a restaurant with an attractive young thing next to him in his Rolls Royce, but, I wanted Lou to see how it felt to be on the other end of the gun... To be fleeing for his life with a tranquilizer stuck in his back, getting dizzier as it pumps its narcotics into him, until finally, his heart couldn't take any more, and it exploded. Just like he killed all those animals in the jungles - from a distance, cowardly, waiting for the drugs to reach the heart and the brain in such quantities that the animal finally died from that.

How many times have you been out somewhere, and suddenly get the cold chill of someone watching you? You look around, but don't see anyone. Maybe, like the animals Lou hunted, or maybe, like Lou himself, you're just the prey, and a predator is watching, waiting only for that moment to claim the kill....
